 The best way to tell a story is the way

YOU tell a story. No bells or whistles 

(unless they are central to your story)

or need to copy a style. Your style is 

the best.

Know your story:

It may sound obvious but it is important to know exactly what happened, how, and in what order. You should be able to tell your story without notes from the heart.

Remember your Audience:

There is an element of performance involved.

You don't have to be the best actor or performer but it is important to bear in mind that you are telling your story for an audience. You should speak audibly and clearly, and if possible in an entertaining manner.

Make sure it is your story:

We all love to talk about other people. It's our National pastime, but the Story Slam is about telling your story and your experiences. Nothing like hearing it from the Horses Mouth.

Beware of Slander:

Your story is as true as you remember it - Provided you would be happy to repeat it in a court of law!

Context:

You may know all the background and people in your story but listeners will not, so please let us know how they fit in.
